cup of flowers smCup of Flowers by Suzanne BurnellSuzanne does the indispensable job of Public Relations for EAFA. She was has a long career in the Engineering Sciences and has done marketing, which makes her a natural as our Public Relations Chair. She still does some consulting, related mainly to water resources. We had an interesting discussion comparing hydro--geology (the science of water in the ground) to her long time artistic inclinations.

As an artist, she has worked in oil, but finds pastels more intriguing. In handling paints and pastels, she understands the scientific principles of the paint itself and knows the chemistry of pigments.

sburnell 2011 smSuzanne BurnellShe paints different subjects, but really enjoys landscapes, especially plein air painting.

She always had the desire to paint, originally as a hobby, but the urge to concentrate on painting has gotten stronger.
She grew up in prairie grass lands of Canada and finds the mountains inspirational. She and her family bicycle and explore the Rockies and Cascades in Washington and Canada. It’s not surprising that she likes back-packing and especially plein air painting as well as volunteering.
